Upon a Midnight Dream by Rachel Van Dyken

I read a lot - _a lot_ - of historical romances. the beginning of this one confused me. normally I'm able to keep characters straight but there wasn't quite enough exposition, especially of the various characters for me to firmly plant them in my mind before the story was off. first we see Stefan deciding to go to India, then in the very next scene he is back and evidently had been shipwrecked for months, but it felt like no time had passed? elaina felt like she was going to have a larger role in the plot, but she was barely mentioned. I did like the horse. the ending felt a little sloppy too. is Rosalind a bastard? I have no idea honestly which sister belongs to which father. there was a lot of good here, I just feel like it needs another rewrite or two to tighten some things up and clarify some of the scenes that were muddlier.
