Dear Love, I Hate You
by Eliah Greenwood
EDITT!!!
Eliah finally released the audio book and of course I snatched that up really fast! Hearing Xaviers voice was a GAME CHANGER. *Swoons* The 2nd time read was great for picking up things I didn't pay close enough attention to before. The narrators did an amazing job, the duet narration was the best way to go. The back and forth, hearing the letters being read in their voices?? Oh my god. I cant explain how much I love this book. Did it give me anxiety? Absolutely. Considering I already knew what was happening, some parts I was hesitating on hearing. You know the line, Xavier, breaking all of our hearts.
Thank you Eliah for these characters! I cant wait to start my copy for Dear Heart, I Hate you.
***************
I loved every second of this book. This book discusses a lot of problematic issues. Child abuse, negligence from parents, bullying and how it affects these characters. I think it was written well and the points came across. I loved seeing the progress Xavi made with his emotions and Vees relationship with her sister and mom. I am glad we got to see the resolutions.
The relationship building with Zac and Love through the letters, then via text. The parallel watching them connect in person as Xavi and Vee was so cute. He was falling for both of them at the same time not knowing they were both her. I was smiling during all of their text conversations. His quick witted answers and his openness about how he left about Love. I swear my heart ripped out of my chest during the confrontation where he tells her he loved her until it was over. I felt her pain, the hurt and rejection. He tried to tell her with the poem hoe he really felt for her but she was so hurt she didn’t see the sign. Vee was such a well rounded character. I felt her emotions and understood why she felt so alone. I was able to resonate with her. I read it via KU but I’m planning on getting a physical copy. Probably one of my favorite stand alone (as of now) that I have read this year. It’s up there with November 9 and Love and other words for me. Which I absolutely loved.
Zac: Hell no. With that said, I may have gone and checked if you’d left another letter in the book this week… chapter 9
Xavier: I smack him in the back of the head. Hard. He blinks at me in shock. But no one’s nearly as shocked as I am. Why the hell did I just do that? “Classy, bro,” I try and justify it. “Don’t act like you wouldn’t hit that,” Axel accuses. I’d hit you. In the face. With a brick. Does that count?
