The Boyfriend
by Freida McFadden
This is the fourth book I’ve read by Freida McFadden and I’m getting a little better at seeing patterns. There is always one or two suspects that seem extremely obvious but aren’t the killers. In this case it was Tom and Slug who I thought was Randy but well I was wrong. Daisy being Gretchen was a plottwist I didn’t see coming although it’s something a more alert reader could have gotten before. Daisy is obviously a nickname for Gretchen.
I think Sydney is a bit stupid, which was frustrating, honestly. Like why the hell don’t you go to the police and tell them everything that’s concerning. I think it was weird that she decided to start dating when Bonnie’s murderer was still not found because „it hit me that in exactly six months I was going to be thirty-five years old.“ okay??? And then she ignored all the signs that Tom was Bonnie’s hot doctor boyfriend. If she would’ve asked more questions and not just accepted his excuses, the book could’ve been like a 100 pages shorter.
I also thought the end was weird/hilarious too. Like idk, but Tom running off with daisy after 20 years of her murdering all the girls he’s been with seems a little late. Why didn’t he decide earlier that he wanted to be with her??
