I was really optimistic about a retelling of the myth from the viewpoint of Medusa. However, this was relatively disappointing. First of all, I liked the character of Medusa even if she wasn't very dynamic or complex, and I enjoyed the scenes with the gods, who had their stereotypical personalities. But the biggest problem with this book was Perseus. He was such a nonthreatening, bumbling villain. I feel like the author didn't necessarily make Medusa a better character, she merely made the other characters worse by comparison. Also, who cares about the subplot with Andromeda? It was so uninteresting. Nothing of consequence happened in this book, it was mostly bland and forgettable.
