I got introduced to this series because it got selected as a buddy read. Otherwise I don't think I ever would have picked this up.

It was said that this is the first book of this author and that certainly shows. It is somewhat reminiscent of Brandon Sanderson which comes abundantly clear with the magic system but just the overall execution of the book feels worse in any conceivable way.

It is pretty fast paced which was appreciated and also that makes it hard for any real boredom to occur but other parts kind of suffer because of that, mainly the worldbuilding which just falls flat in some places.

There are definitely cool concepts here and I am interested enough in all the POV characters to pique my curiousity.

So yeah overall I thought this was okay. I think I will continue with this series but I don't think I would if the books weren't included in Kindle Unlimited.
