This book routinely comes up when I see "fantasy with good prose" discussions, for good reason! It feels like your standard murder mystery but the worldbuilding is INCREDIBLE and SO immersive. Totally bizarre flora and fauna, original fantasy/scifi biological elements, and top-knotch prose.

Also I adored the main characters, especially Ana - we love a sarcastic and competent lady. 

Highly recommend and I will definitely be reading book 2!
