The Providence of Fire
by Brian Staveley
This is a big step up from the first book by a long shot. Kaden, Adare and Valyn each have more compelling story arcs this time around. While each character is still deeply flawed and make choices that seem foolish, they do not feel as forced as the first time around. The strong points in the book come near the end and the payoff is worth the long trek there. It'll be a tough year waiting out the next release.
