Milk Blood Heat by Dantiel W. Moniz

4.0

had to put this one down for a long while before I could pick it back up because as well written and detailed as it is, this collection is also super, super dark and each story ends with almost no resolution. the stories largely center black women’s experiences in Florida, and each was executed w aching, exacting prose, but each story seemed to just dropped off. which I guess is pretty true to life — not everything is pretty or resolved. definitely looking forward to more from Moniz.
