This is a very strong and extremely heavy debut from Charlotte Paradise. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a fiction novel that tackles the aftermath and lasting effects of sexual trauma in the way that this one does, nonetheless in such a brutally honest manner. I will say that I did feel as if some parts veered on being a bit trivial when discussing trauma and PTSD. I don’t think Paradise needed to spoon feed the reader quite as much as she did throughout. This is definitely a worthwhile read but I found that the heaviness of the story really sneaks up on you, so please, please, please check trigger warnings before picking this one up.
