Coraline by Neil Gaiman

as expected, different from the film in its own ways and not as remotely scary, yet still quite eerie. there’s an undercurrent of tenderness and cautionary softness that characterizes children’s books and sets it apart from regular spooky tales, making it special to read. of course, holding the film close to my heart helped me get through a lot of it <33
