The Order of Time
by Carlo Rovelli
challenging
informative
inspiring
reflective
medium-paced
Rovelli does his best to convey quite complex ideas and heavy theoretical physics into a format that is more easily understood. Even so, some existing knowledge of physics is probably needed to get through some of the sections. To assist the reader he often repeats notions, and sums up the train of thought he's on regularly. If you're managing to follow the more complex science this is probably a bit annoying, but I found it helpful. He even suggests chapters to skip if they feel too technical, although I thought other sections harder myself.
Despite the complexity, the book is actually very poetic, and at its core, a beautiful thought experiment. He even made me laugh out loud a couple of times. And crucially I paused at least 4 times to inform my family of some mind blowing realisation, or nugget of interest, which is a sure sign I'm fully on board with a book. If you do feel skipping sections is needed, the last 3 chapters on memory and the core of our identity are a must read.
