🔸 Lauren Blacklock is looking forward to spending a week at maiden voyage of luxury cruise Aurora. Her firm is assigned to promote this trip, the aesthetics of the liner, the hospitable staff and the scenic voyage. Lo wakes in the middle of 1 night thinking she heard a scream and then a huge splash follows, like someone has thrown a body in the sea. She reports it to the crew that she is worried about the woman in next cabin, Cabin 10. But the crew tells her that cabin is empty since the start of the voyage. But that can’t be true since just previous evening, Lo had a brief interaction with a woman in cabin 10. Lo is wary as to how to prove her point since all the passengers on the board are accounted for. She is on heavy anti depressants and is doubtful as to what she heard & saw is indeed real or her hallucination.
💖 Wows - Audiobook in @audible_in is narrated by @imogenchurchgobshite and she has done an amazing job on pitch and voice modulations.
Setting - perfect
Writing - captivating
Audiobook - nice
Plot - promising
Still unable to put a finger on why I did not enjoy this as much as I wanted to.
💔 Ows - Lo Blacklock - she is shown so dumb and her actions senseless. Even though the plot is fast paced, actions of Lo are very repetitive. She is always drinking, vomiting and anxious due to lack of sleep. She is on the cruise to cover the trip and is not shown working even once. So many things did not make sense like how come her company is not worried about her whereabouts after initial 2 days onboard, why no one is checking on her progress. There are too many characters but most of them don’t leave a mark and so when they make an appearance later in the story, I had to rack my brains who is this now? And am still wondering what was the thought behind putting the house break in incident at the start of the book - can someone explain me what am I missing?
💫 I am not deterred and still very much excited to start the sequel The Woman in suite 11 soon. Netflix adaptation is coming real soon, you interested?? ⭐️⭐️⭐️
