With multiple point-of-views and multiple timelines, The Swimmer pulls out twists and turns to shock you and keep you turning the pages. There were times I felt it a little over the top, but that just ended up making me enjoy it more.
Chloe is a 40-year old woman who’s spent the last few years caring for her ailing mom and peeping into other people’s lives but never being a part of them.
Jemma and Adam are an affluent married couple who look like they have it all from the outside, but inside their lives are broken and deteriorating and Chloe has a view to see it all. Both Jemma and Adam have secrets and they’ll both do what they can to keep them.
In an odd way, they sort of reminded me of The Perfect Marriage (a semi-controversial book to like for its unhinged moments). But the married couples had similarities and if you like watching conniving people manipulate their way through life with a side of murder, then these books are for you.
I received an advanced copy through Netgalley in return for an honest review.
