this had a really interesting plot, and i was surprised by how much i ended up rooting for the romance. however, i found the prose a little too simple for my taste, and i was often disappointed by what should have been big narrative moments that failed to deliver. it's useful for the narrator to spell out some of the more complex elements of the world building, but it would have served the story better to allow the reader to draw some of their own conclusions from descriptions.
