3.5 rounded up! This started off slow but picked up towards the end. Because of Alice's requests as Beijing Ghost, it reads almost like a heist novel with a bite of magical realism. It tackles the whole asian academic/financial/filial piety thing in a fresh, exciting new way. The bit about not being responsible for your parents' decisions....yeah
