My Heart Is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones

Did not finish book. Stopped at 60%.
i’m sad that i didn’t have the heart to finish this, but i really honestly just didn’t care. i think i ended up getting about 70% in and even then i was just bored to tears. the first chapter is amazing and i felt genuinely scared, but it just turns sooooooooo agonizingly slow after that that i was uninterested. the smack-you-over-the-head reminders that jade really likes slashers and wants a slasher cycle to start in proofrock were unbearable after a while, there were too many characters, and just NOTHING HAPPENING. i was excited for this to come out, but i’m pretty disappointed and couldn’t justify going on. 😔😔
