Thank you to the authors and their team for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. Fighting For You is the second book in the Ripple Effect series, it can be read as an interconnected standalone. This was a really good story, I could not put it down. Alleged bad boy Brooks was a really easy character to fall for. The plot of this book was really well- written. I appreciated that it was not just a fluffy romance. It touched on some real issues: parent loss, parent with a life altering illness, navigating adult sibling relationships, alcoholism, and battling your own demons and self-worth. By the end, you were really rooting for Margot and Brooks to get out of their own way and make a go of it. My favorite scene of the book would have to be at the drive- in...and all of the cheese!
My one critique, keeping this from a 5- star read, was the insta- love between Brooks and Margot. I would have happily read 50 or even 100 more pages of them running into each other at the hardware store, her rising on the back of his motorcycle or fumbling thru a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th date, to make the love feel more real and authentic.
Overall, this was a really solid romance book and ticked all of the boxes. I will go back and read the 1st book in the series, and look forward to any subsequent books
