Night Embrace
by Sherrilyn Kenyon
I almost don’t want to read the next book in this series because this one was so good! I simply cannot fathom how it could possibly get any better, but knowing Sherrilyn Kenyon - it will.
Night Embrace is definitely a lot more hot and heavy in the physical romance department than Night Pleasures. Despite the ample amount of intimate moments, each one was uniquely provocative and arousing. Guys, if you’re looking for a guidebook on how to please a woman, forget the karma sutra - pick up Night Embrace instead! It’s got a lot more action in it too!
What makes this such an incredible novel is that the passion is just that, passion. It’s not simply fluffy, horny lust. Sherrilyn Kenyon is a master at crafting deep relationships between her characters that bind them together for life. That’s something I believe is missing in the modern era of our picture perfect, social media centric lives. I also admire the complexity she achieves in her plots. This book hints at things I know will be explored in later novels and the way she introduces them makes me eager to keep reading. Honestly, everything about this book make it hard to put it down.
There were two things that made me mad about the book though. One, every man in this book is insanely gorgeous, and way too flirtatious. My main problem with that isn’t that it’s a bad thing - my problem is that it’s not real life. Can I just live in one of her books? But, without the crazy powerful people trying to ruin my life and kill everyone I care about. The second thing that upset me is that she made me care so much about these characters that I literally cried when things got intense. I had to stop reading for a moment because I was shaking and couldn’t see the page through the tears because my heart was breaking. That being said... I LOVE this book, and it may wind up being my all time favorite Sherrilyn Kenyon book. I have to finish the series first before I know that for sure though.
Also, it’s hilarious. I lost track of how many times I randomly burst out laughing at the most unexpected points in the book.
