Milkman by Anna Burns
5.0
Milkman completely stole my heart. The stream of consciousness, first person narration offers an intimate look inside this young woman's mind: an exquisitely relatable female perspective not often encountered in Booker finalists. The language is dense and the style innovative; demanding every ounce of your attention and drawing you into the story (which, although supposedly set in a troubled 1970s Belfast, draws some insightful and shocking parallels to today’s political climate).
