I loved so much about this book. I cried through the last 100 pages. It was truly stellar. This is one of few SJM books I feel is evenly paced throughout, it’s nonstop. HOWEVER, the Aedion/war chapters were, at times, unbearable. The only good thing about them was Lysandra.
My other main criticism is that this really could have been two books. There is a lot I wish was explored more eg. The lord of the north lore. The end felt a little rushed and I would’ve absolutely read a novel/novella about the rebuilding
Also, Manon & Abraxos’ story wrecked me.
Overall, this whole series is one of the best I’ve read. I wish I’d found this series in high school- I would have loved to have a series centered on women, rooted in their depth/strength.
