Death of a Naturalist by Seamus Heaney

reflective fast-paced

3.75

I was pleasantly surprised. Often the poetry I read is motivated by natural imagery and nature and while this collection is the same, it was far grittier because of Heaney's time living in rural environments. It reads like an ode to the natural world and the place that it holds within our relationships to each other. It's not typical of my poetry tastes but if I ever stumble across this collection, I would like to own it for myself and read it more closely.
