insomniac8 's review for:
The Locked Ward
by Sarah Pekkanen
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
Georgia is in a psych ward after being accused of killing her sister on her birthday. She reconnects with her twin sister and asks her to help her get out, because she insists she's innocent.
Unfortunately the progress of this book was slow and the "mystery" was not interesting enough for me. The story felt more like a family drama than a psychological thriller. The so-called twists fell flat and didn't have the impact that the writer intended for them to have. There wasn't any realization that shocked me or I hadn't already predicted. The characters had no depth and I couldn't connect with them. The ending was cheesy and not really believable.
The best part about this audiobook was the narrators. Macmillan Audio has never disappointed me with the level of professionalism and skill of their voice actors.
