Whew this was a rough one to get through. Make sure you're in the mental space to be pelted with upsetting statistics/examples. None of this should be “I HAD NO IDEA!” shocking to you - if it is, you have more research to do. I’ll leave it at that.
The most informative part for me was Bates clearly showing the pipeline of young men seeking help to extremism. The way capitalism harnesses that fear/loneliness for greed. We may see it, but the author does such a good job of pulling back all the layers.
I’m really thankful women like Laura exist and are willing to face the massive repercussions for being in the public eye. I hope she’s as safe from the constant death threats and harassment as she can be right now.
