For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten
3.0
I judged the book by its premise/cover/title and expected a superficial plot that fell apart at the romance, and this definitely was not that. It's beautifully written and the romance is featured as a parallel priority to the plot. I loved that this was neither love nor bitter hate at first sight, no "he's infuriating but so damn HOT" kind of schtick. The romance felt sweet and organic. Unfortunately, the plot itself just didn't grab me. The mechanics of the Wilderwood went over my head, especially since I went into this book, looking at the premise/cover/title, hoping that it was more of a mindless read. This wasn't for me in the moment, but I might reread it again when I'm up for more wordbuilding and am better prepared to absorb it.
