A Ballad of Phantoms and Hope by K.M. Moronova
5.0
I ABSOLUTELY cried after reading this book, which I also cried after the first one, so it only makes sense. K.M. has such a way with how this story was written, you will fall in love!
If you have not read Fabric of our Souls please please please go do it! This is considered a spinoff from it, but it will make more sense to read that one first! It's such a poetic, beautiful, and enchanting story you won't want to put down. Also, please check TW for this story as it's romanticizing death but also has other death type subjects.
So we follow Lanston, who had passed in book 1, but he's stuck in the world just as a ghost. He still stays at the mental hospital with other ghosts who lived there before they passed. We also meet Ophelia, who is a beautiful ghost that Lanston meets and falls for. These two slowly go on a journey to find peace and help others find their peace. This is a heavy and dark story.
The pace is a bit slower, but with the heaviness we get in the story, it makes sense to unravel all the layers slowly to not rush anything. There are a lot of spots for readers to also feel similar feelings. But also from the dark we got a lot of beautiful light that makes everything worth it. There is lots of closure, healing, and forgiveness throughout the story! The ending was absolutely perfect even if I cried like a baby!!
I received this as an eARC in exchange for my honest review. Thank you K.M. Moronova for such a beautiful little duology!
