A Promised Land by Barack Obama
⭐⭐⭐⭐
As much as I enjoyed this book, it was long. I listened to the audio book and it took a whopping 29 hours. Once I had started l, I knew I was in it for the long haul. So in light of that, I'm going to keep it short and sweet 😅
The book itself is definitely for readers with an interest in American Politics and it's useful to know a little about the history. Obama tells his story with such a passion and you can feel his will for the world to be good. I found the general themes so positive and inspirational.
My critique would be that Obama is a very wordy man. He knows this, he jokes about it in the book and even explains that he needed to dial back during his presidency. At times, I was struggling to keep up and focus on the words and that took away from the overall experience of the book.
Would I read it again? No but I'd definitely feel like I had missed out had I not read it at all.
