Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore
5.0
Gah, this book is good. It looks like I took a while to read it, but I devoured it in three different sessions of 100+ pages. Every time I picked it up, I couldn’t stop.
I chose this as my Book of the Month because I’m burned out on heavy nonfiction and gory thrillers. I am so thankful I did.
This historical romance tells the story of a suffragette who was one of the first female students at Oxford. Through her political goals, she becomes involved with a duke who actually has the power to make change for women’s rights.
I have to be honest. I use Bookly, and I saved way too many pages as perfect examples of sexual tension. You have to learn from the greats, right? This is a slow burn masterfully done.
In my first update, I said it had all the charm of a classic with modern storytelling devices. I still stand by that statement! Please pick this up. It’s such a fun book that’s so well done.
