This book is greatly confusing, but I'm not sure it's possible to make the English Civil Wars sensible, and any representation that is too simple would probably be a gross misrepresentation. Not your book if you want a coherent timeline with battles. It gives a bit of commentary on the political situation, though in trying not to be too partisan it gets a little muddled. Perhaps it's better for someone who already knows a lot about the subject, or it might do as a sort of whirlwind tour.
