Formulaic for Harris - a plucky female character must navigate perilous situations where everyone seems determined to get her killed - but still a fun beach read. And true to Harris-fashion, there's also a romance thrown in haphazardly. The setting is unique. It's an alternate 1930s reality where the US has been divided up into territories, including one run by Russians. But, overall, the story is kind of flat for me.
