Firstly I should say I ended up listening to this in two stages with quite a big gap as I ran out of listening hours on one app and had to wait for it to be available on the library app! So I maybe haven’t had the full experience as I would have if I’d listened in one continuous go.
The book is also more about domestic abuse than witchcraft IMO. And I think that’s why I found it harder, as it’s something that landed very close to home for me, and made it a hard listen at times.
It’s a beautifully written book, and the timelines weave together really well, charting three very different generations of women and their experiences at the hands of men and the patriarchy.
It’s a good book and if the Content Note of extensive domestic abuse and rape is OK for you I would definitely recommend it.
Contrary to most folks I enjoyed her second book - Sirens - much more. But that might be for the reasons already stated above.
