In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson
5.0

This might be the most fun I've ever had reading a book. I laughed out loud many times and I fell even more deeply in love with OZ. I love the way Bryson notes small encounters with locals that really give the country a personality. I took notes on places I'd like to visit and fell into many wiki wormholes that started with "I wonder if that tree is really that impressive." His truly seemless blend of travel narrative and history is fascinating. I didn't realize I cared about history but there is a reason for each bit of trivia's inclusion. I was already fascinated by this country but I think I would enjoy a book on any subject if written by Bryson.
