Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling, Mary GrandPré, Mary GrandPré

"He could not let anybody else stand between him and Voldemort; he must abandon forever the illusion he ought to have lost at the age of one, that the shelter of a parent's arms meant that nothing could hurt him. There was no waking from his nightmare, no comforting whisper in the dark that he was safe really, that it was all in his imagination; the last and greatest of his protectors had died, and he was more alone than he had ever been before."

Reading through this series, now as an adult, I enjoy them so much more than I did as a kid. This sixth installment is no exception. It has been incredible to watch Rowlings' style evolve through the series and this book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I feel like I am right there alongside Harry as he faces the Dark Arts and, though already knowing the ending, am still surprised when I reread each adventure and misfortune little Harry encounters. These books will always hold a special place in my heart.
