Chasing Shadows by Robert Bryndza
5.0
dark mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

With each case in the series it feels like it is Erika’s toughest one yet but in the latest offering from the author, Erika is really put through the mill. She is forced to confront the past and rightly so, she wants justice for the death of her husband and colleagues and to get some much needed answers. Whilst we have always known how Mark lost his life, it was absolutely riveting to get an insight in to what actually happened that fateful evening.

It’s hard to know what to say without giving too much away about the storyline itself. What I will say is that things don’t turn out to plan after Erika’s discovery and it seems to open up a rabbit hole of doubt, secrets and lies. Erika finds herself in a terrible predicament that could not only see her career in trouble but also putting her life at risk. There are plenty of nail-biting moments that’s for sure!

Chasing Shadows digs deep into the past with some shocking revelations. I didn’t know who to trust by the end. I was as desperate as Erika for the truth to come out and for justice to be finally served. With each page turned, the story got more harrowing and had me gripped to the edge of my seat. One twist literally knocked me sideways and my emotions went into overdrive. One of the tensest and most heart-stopping reads that will leave you with your jaw dropped firmly on the floor. Excellent!
