The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri

An incredibly well-done conclusion to a moving trilogy speaking of love, faith, and power. Each character and their impact grows as the tension within the book does. Never lost its way in connecting us to the characters, no matter how briefly they appeared.

An elegant writing style seeped in yearning and anguish, locking me into a story I wasn’t ready to finish. A strong conclusion to a story that kept me in its grip with its complex characters and heightened dread towards that yaksa. Maintaining a slower horror tone toward the interactions with the yaksa was one of my favorite consistent writing choices in the series. Hauntingly beautiful in its depiction of meeting gods who are too aware of their power and what it means to be mortal.
Can’t move on without discussing Malini and Priya themselves. Always full of emotion, complicated and powerful, but still unable to turn their back on each other. Loved their story and every messy turn it took.
