Seven Days in June by Tia Williams

It’s been so long since I read this I can only hope I remember everything I want to say about it (unlikely).

Once again I read about single motherhood. This isn’t something I’m actively looking for but I guess I just picked up some books about them. I think it’s very fascinating to read about these women who try to be the best parents they can be despite the circumstances. And we all know how much I vibe with unconventional family dynamics.

However, I thought the daughter was a mockery of Gen Z and I didn’t like her very much. Like tell me you don’t know how to write tweens without telling me. She was just very annoying and although there were times where she was fun, for the most part I was like what is this caricature.

Moving on, I thought this was an incredible story about two people who have been broken down so much but fight so hard to put themselves together…I thought the story was incredibly moving and intense and buzzing with electricity in more ways than one.

The chemistry between the main couple was sooooo intense not just in wanting to touch each other but just wanting to lift each other up and be together and ugh it was so fantastic. Also I just know Shane is hot as fuck oh my god.

They also did a good job in incorporating humour with the intense themes. Like this book about drug addiction and recovery and single parenting and familial abuse, oh and by the way Eva writes vampire erotica.

I loved the idea and the execution behind these two authors who (un)knowingly write about each other and in Shane’s case he wrote this super deep book about this girl who is just so….deep (I can’t remember much) meanwhile Eva wrote an epic smut series about monsterfuckers oh and the love interest is inspired by Shane. I’m sorry I just loved that and honestly I would be down to read those books too.

I’m always a sucker for books about people in the book industry. That would’ve been me in another closeby parallel universe where I don’t do STEM.

I also liked the format of going back and forth in time between that week they shared together as teenagers and the present day where they come back to each other. I found it to be very effective and not particularly annoying.

I also loved the part at the end where Eva decided not to write for the money or that stuff, finally let go of this series she’s been sick of for ages, and write about what she wants. About her ancestors and the story of the women who were there before her and their culture. Very inspiring.

I think that’s it?

OHHHH NO THE. THE TEENAGER THE GUY WHO WAS SHANE’S MENTEE…..He made me so anxious the entire time and I was SO SO SO SO SO SAD ABOUT HIM….LIKE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I was so mad and angry and upset and sad and UGGGHHHH.

Why did I remember that now I end this review on a sad note.
