Home Body by Rupi Kaur

emotional hopeful inspiring fast-paced
This is, so far, my favorite of Rupi Kaur's works. I got so lost in the poetry and each chapter of the book made me feel very differently, made me reflect on different things.
Many of the poems are very raw and honest, almost brutally so. That is something I love about all of Kaur's work. And again, the style seems simple, some poems very short. But they are not 'everyone could have done that' poems, they are not 'simple' even though the style is. Because Kaur masterfully packs so much nuance and meaning into a single sentence and that is something not many can achieve. There is a lot of seemingly simple poetry that is pseudo-profound and laced with platitudes and overdone symbolism. But you will not find that in this book.

I think the poems invite readers to fly through the book with how short they are, but in my opinion you will get much more out of the book if you slow down and really let the individual poems sink in, if you take the time to reflect on them.

If you like modern poetry I highly recommend this book.
