I feel like this book had been marketed all wrong. I've had a lot of people ask if this is a romance based on the cover, or reviews listing this as hilarious and funny. It's neither

This book is for the Taylor Jenkins Reid girlies who have already read all of TJR. A historical fiction? Check. A woman trying to make it as the best in her field? Check. A tale that seamlessly weaves past and present? Check. So much loss and heartach? Check. The only catch is this is... less realistic. While having way more trigger warnings.

Elizabeth Zott was such an interesting character, but I think she was a bit too robit go push this into 5 star territory. She didn't have much development, rather we just watched a lot of things happen to her. I wish we had a woman in STEM who can be emotional too with other interests, but Zott has a one track mind. Also, the "insanely smart toddler " trope is one that always bothers me and has taken me out of a narrative. But we loved the found family vibes and as a Chemistry girlie I appreciated the science

Do check out the triggers in this if you want to read. Including, but not limited too, death and grief, sexism, rape, assault, and suicide.
