When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri

2.0

I really didn't enjoy this book. However, it was $1 at my local dollar tree.. so my expectations were not high.

This is the most stereotypical and basic version of a LGBTQ+ story I have ever read! It starts off with Katie.. a lawyer for a major firm in New York. She is currently going through a life changing set of circumstances after her wealthy, dull, and pretentious fiancé, Paul Mitchell broke up with her. Next is Cassidy, also a lawyer for a major firm in New York. She is a strong, independent, and bad ass lesbian who has a love for sex and men's clothing. (Remember the basic comment.... exactly).
When Katie and Cassidy meet at work, they both are instantly drawn to each other. After ONE crazy night at a gay bar.... Katie and Cassidy are attached at the hip. We watch as Cassidy learns that her adult life comes with settling down and finding love. Alongside Katie questioning her sexuality and her overall feelings of opening up to her new life without Paul Mitchell.

Overall I give this book a 2.25 stars. The story wasn't dreadful to read. However, our ideas of LQBTQ+ stories are much more progressive nowadays. A book about lesbians don't always need to involve a butch, a girly girl, and a vulgar best friend. I definitely would not recommend this book to anyone! I mean, come one Camille Perri... do better.
