Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell

4.0

"It is not the brightest who succeed... Nor is success simply the sum of the decisions and efforts we make on our behalf. It is, rather, a gift. Outliers are those who have been given opportunities -- and who have had the strength and presence of mind to seize them."

After reading this book, I can agree with Gladwell's preposition that there is no such thing as a self-made person. I think this book would do great to those people who feel frustrated about not being at where they want to be despite following the "formulas" or pursuing the exact path shared in the famous people's success stories.

My favorite discussion was about the (unfortunate) plane crashes and how they can be attributed to their language and culture. As a communications major (and also someone who aspires to be more assertive), this was quite interesting to me.
