How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
5.0
I'll admit I was skeptical about this book. It was assigned reading for school and I felt it was a little silly to assign something like this. I realize that I was deflecting because having these conversations are uncomfortable. But that's exactly what Dr. Kendi wants. In order for change to happen, we need to have these conversations and make ourselves uncomfortable.
I have very rarely read a book that has taken me so long to read because I really had to stop and process everything I was reading. I love the way that this is written, a personal narrative interwoven with facts, history, and discussion. I am thankful I read this book, as it will continue to shape how I think and hopefully also how I behave in the future.
