For anyone who wants to get into the xianxia world, MXTX's first book is the best bet.

While Shen Yuan as Shen Qingqiu can be an unreliable narrator for most of the time, the way he explains the world of SVSSS is detailed and uncomplicated.


MXTX’s MDZS was the first of her books I got into, SVSSS certainly is beginner friendly for readers. 

Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu’s relationship isn't the main focus in the first book, but it did set up how they shall be perceived in the next ones to come. Plus, how he came to treasure Shen Qingqiu is realistic considering the circumstances he was born into.
