This one was the darkest (to me) so far...but also, sort of the softest. The plot is a revenge plot and the most intense so far. Miles took things the furthest than any of the other guys have. I was surprised at what he was capable of. But his actions were FOR her and not TO her. He was completely gone for her and did anything for her...literally.
This one isn't a bully romance. It's a literal touch her and unalive.

I think I've been brainwashed somewhere between the first book in the series and this one because I was annoyed by the heroine in this one. She seemed too broken to me, too wounded and devastated. It didn't make sense to me since she spent most of her life not being told she was loved. So, I didn't understand why she spiraled so hard from the initial rejection. And she spiraled spectacularly...in a slow de*th of sorts. Also, Miles was literally ALWAYS there for her for years and she knew it. It's said a few times that she noticed him constantly, so I don't really understand why she didn't think about Miles caring about her once. And I didn't get her serious denial of his feelings, or hers all based on her situation with his brother. I mean...they are two completely different people.
Yeah, she bothered me quite a lot.

Miles though, I loved him. I don't know what that says about me, but oh well. He was 100% obsessed with Willow, from the moment he met her. As soon as he saw his chance he swooped in and stopped at nothing to have her. This man was not going to take no for an answer or let anyone get in his way of having her. He showed the most control when it came to her but the least amount of control when it came to outside forces messing with her.

I'm starting to wonder if I need to go back and re-read the first book again. But then...I strongly disliked how "brutal" he was to her and the length of that one, so I don't know. Either way, this one was another winner for me. Steele is still my favorite though.
