If I hadn't loved "Natural Beauty," I wouldn't have stuck with this but I also wouldn't be so disappointed.
Huang doesn't bother to establish any relationship on the page in between the characters.
At a certain point it felt almost ridiculous because it's like every sci-fi thing that can possibly be happening is happening and this isn't sci-fi. It felt realistic and at first, near future post-apocalyptic, and more and more sci-fi things just get thrown at the wall.
All that said, a significant part of the reason I don't like this is just my preference. Girl hate/girl envy is not my thing and neither are books about the art world.
