This was a really solid memoir. Christie often recalls her Dad telling her she’s living out the movie of her life and her life actually feels like a movie at times. Christie is pretty candid about her marriages and some aspects of her career. She’s super detailed due to years of journaling and recording videos. In addition, she has a habit of adding embellishment and analogies to a lot of her stories, in particular when transitioning between chapters. This book could have used a really good editor to tighten it up a bit. The audio is 15 hours long and the book still ends in 2012!
I appreciate Christie sharing her life story. I wish there had been a bit more reflection on her choices in men and about career challenges. She’s great at detailing events that happened to her but not so great at talking about how or why it impacted her. I’ll be curious to watch Billy Joel’s new documentary this Summer to see his side of the story.
