The first half of this book is dark and mysterious. Somehow the book starts with past lives, an undying love and revenge, then morphs into magic, covens, immortality, mythical and deadly beasts and blood drinking. A random plot turn to running from war, non-humanoid persecution and being framed in another world and escaping via portals. Ultimately the book ends with consensual monster kink, painful induced for pleasure, defeating foes and of course, the happiness of a mated couple conceiving a child. Literally this storyline HAS IT ALL for smut tropes.
