I Will Die in a Foreign Land
by Kalani Pickhart
For a historical novel, it's amazing. For a debut novel, it's astounding. I am a friend of the author, so this book glows even brighter for me, but even if I didn't know her, this book would still get five stars. You can read the general description—how different characters in the Ukrainian protests of 2013/2014 intersect. That's accurate. But what the description fails to say is that yes, that's what happens, but it happens through damn good writing that makes you hungry to keep reading it. I advise you to read it. You will not regret it.
