Agatha Christie's ability to write mysteries with all sorts of twists and turns never fails to captivate me. We start with a murder in a seemingly peaceful village and slowly unravel its secrets like an orange peel. I enjoyed learning about the residents' histories while trying to piece together their movements. I thought I was on the right track but in the end the carpet was pulled out from under me and I was left pleasantly surprised.
My only critique is that I felt some of the character's backstories were confusing to follow towards the end, but it all clicked once I reread a quick summary.
I recommend this book and others by Christie to anyone looking for a quick old fashioned mystery with multiple players and their unique quirks. Definitely an exciting way to start the new year.
