Dock Tease by DJ Jamison
4.0
Dock Tease is everything I enjoy about DJ Jamison’s books - it’s sweet, full of funny/quirky small town things and has a fun group of characters that I can’t wait to learn more about throughout the series. Fisher and Hudson’s story was a great introduction to all the weirdness that is Swallow Cove!
Fisher Riggins has been in love with his dad’s rival since he made his way into town years ago. He works in his dad’s lake supply shop while finishing his college degree, something that’s given him ideas on how to move the shop and the town forward, but no one wants to give him the time of day. Fisher wants to make Swallow Cove a place where younger people can build a life, starting with the town’s defunct resort. He’s desperate for everyone to see him as an adult with good ideas of his own and uses his reputation around town and his charismatic ways to get people on board with his ideas, including Hudson.
Hudson Nash has been an outsider in the Swallow Cove community since he moved into town, but he’s dedicated to helping to make the town a thriving place to be, not only for his boat touring business, but for the residents themselves too. After leaving a marriage and a stressful career behind, lake life appeals to him in a way he never expected. He works a lot to keep his business afloat, but he loves to be out on the water, so it’s not much of a hardship…plus he can stop in to see Fisher whenever he needs to refuel.
If Fisher had his way, these two would have been together long before it actually happened, but he had to use his charisma and charm on Hudson to make him see how good they could be together. Once Hudson agrees to help Fisher gain more experience while they work on the Dock Hop project together. While there’s a 20 year age gap and a feud between Hudson and Fisher’s father between them, they couldn’t be a better match - they’re adorable together and support each other through all kinds of crazy things. They make each other happy and their interactions made me smile.
Really looking forward to more Swallow Cove craziness in the future!
