I struggled with this book a bit. The plot was ok, and it's obvious Hearne is trying to transition into a broader story-line, but it all seemed a bit stale. The Druids are still dealing with the fallout from Lief's betrayal and the whole mess with the Norse, and the whole thing seems to be a bit drawn out. I'm beginning to feel like this series is turning into episodes of dragon ball z, where it take 6 episodes for anything to really happen. Atticus also seems to be getting more and more reckless. He spends 90% of the book trying to take care of everything all by himself while ignoring Owen and Granuaile, which ultimately causes some really horrible things to happen. What happened to our logical hero with well thought out plans? Since when have we switched to this "guns blazing" ask for forgivness later mess? Final point, putting the first 3 chapters of a book into a short story inside a different anthology is a jerk move. If you didn't read the short story (like me), be prepared to be very confused. Disappointed.
