The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend
by Kody Keplinger
I read this book after seeing the trailer for the movie. From the trailer, I expected it to be like Mean Girls, but I was happily surprised. I love Mean Girls, but I was glad this book was different.
The story was fairly predictable, but it was still entertaining. I appreciated that the story wasn't censored the way a lot of YA novels are, making teenagers out to be more naive or innocent than they really are. (Not that all teenagers are hooligans who have sex all the time and whatnot, but you know what I mean).
Overall, it was an entertaining read, with an important lesson about accepting yourself and treating people with respect and kindness. DUFF pride.
